Kayaking Fundamentals

This two day kayak course takes place on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Garden Bay is a small community located in the Pender Harbour forest district and is surrounded by fresh and saltwater. Most of the local lakes are restricted too non motorized water craft and are perfect destinations for the paddling enthusiast.

This adventure is geared for the novice paddler or those looking to take some formal kayak instruction. Participants will start with a day on one of our local freshwater lakes learning safety procedures, gear and equipment, kayak dynamics, and how to maneuver the boat to help one get comfortable with the mechanics of paddling. Day one will also cover coast guard regulations, tides and currents, weather, as well as kayak entry/capsize procedures.

The second day of your kayaking adventure will consist of a day on the saltwater, paddling some of local waterways and expanding on the skills learned on day one. This hands on day will give participants a chance to learn about route planning and the decision making process when assessing where to paddle as well as the effects of weather and tide. Kayaking is a great way to develop an appreciation of the natural environment where we live, explore the beauty of our coastal waters, and reward ourselves with some physical and emotional stimulus.

Kayak Touring Adventure

Your two day kayak touring adventure takes place on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Garden Bay is a small community located in the Pender Harbour forest district and is surrounded by fresh and saltwater. Most of the local lakes are restricted too non motorized water craft and are perfect destinations for the paddling enthusiast.  In addition, the lower Sunshine Coast is surrounded by ocean and offers a variety  of saltwater paddling in the many bays and inlets that make up its shoreline.

If you like the idea of sleeping in a warm bed and having a hot shower after a day of paddling this may be the adventure for you. The area has spectacular scenery, bountiful wildlife and a lifetime of salt & fresh water shorelines to explore. Join us for a few days on the water which we expect will become a truly natural west coast adventure.
